Horses We've Trained

Our horses are raised in Montana to get that exercise and foundation that only a mother can give. I halter break them as yearlings and turn them back out. As 2 and 3 year olds we bring them to Kennewick and I start the riding program. They start in great shape from their range upbringing and we go from there to lope in circles, back, and side pass - these colts and filly's are really easy to break. Running in a 3000 acre pasture from birth to two is hard to beat. They get ridden out in the sage brush for exercise and we put some arena work on them for polish.

The result - they all have the good looks from Papa Durr, they get the ranch upbringing, then they get a great schooling. For more info

Sugar Bar (Mare Born 5/03)

By Papa Durr and Sugarfoot (Currently in MT)

This is a grade filly the represents the best of Papa Durr. I roped her as 2-yr old to get a halter on her and she acted like she wanted to get along. Three days later we had her outside the corral moving cattle to the back of the pasture. In addition to her great disposition, she has excellent bone / feet and she will be 15-1 when she's done growing. I think she represents the best of what we look. Her mother is an excellent saddle horse as well. Although she's not registered, she is very well bred.

...and here's the best part - she's beautiful; perfectly proportioned, perfect head, kind eye, and the perfect attitude in a trainable horse. I've also come to believe that horses raised on the range in Montana have a head start on foals raised in smaller, irrigated pastures... more stamina, better feet, better muscle and bone development.

Sweet Enough - Currently at Ryegate Montana

Sweet Enough

2004 Bay Filly (will be ~ 15 to 15-1)

By Papa Durr and Big Enough

This is our third foal out of a grade mare that belonged to my Dad; my sister Karen rode Big Enough for years. Her two brothers are outstanding geldings that we're gentle and easy to break (Will and Que Ball). Sweetness was raised in Montana and is still on the range. I lunged her and saddled her spring of 05 and in started riding her this spring (07). She's already showing her friendly, trainable Papa Durr heritage. She got his color and disposition.

I think this filly is showing great aptitude as a reiner. She's very "light" on the halter and bridle and sensitive to directions. This filly has Papa Durr's head and is already a beautiful horse. She'll only get better.

Pinys Wild Rose "Rosey" (Filly Born 3/24/05)

By Papa Durr and Richs Whisperin Pine (Piny) AQHA #4665964

This filly will register foundation and comes from my favorite cross. We have 5 foals and Rosey is now 3 and well broke. She looks just like Fancy (purchased by Robin Wadsworth) and she's the bulls eye of our breeding goals. Expect her to be 15+. I started her under saddle in September 07 and now she's muscled up and kid quiet. She's really quiet and lopes circles and figure 8's, side passes, backs, shoes, loads... very quiet and compliant and very powerful. This Filly has a beautiful head and will be a big, strong, and gentle mare.

Pinys Tinker Bell (Filly Born 7/08/06)

By Papa Durr and Richs Whisperin Pine (Piny)

AQHA #4839973

This filly will register foundation and comes from my favorite cross. We have 5 colts and Tinker got the socks and the "knockout looks." She's the bulls eye of our breeding goals. Expect her to be 15-2. She's well started as a two year old... lopes circles, flexes, backs and holds her own on the trail with older horses - very well developed for her age.

This Filly has a beautiful head, lots of flash, and will be a big, strong, and gentle mare when she's mature. She's the mahogany bay like her mom and dad plus all the chrome... makes an eye-catching combination

Ivy Mae Bar

5/2003 Bay Filly (AQHA #445765)

By Papa Durr and April Jo Bar # 2418190

I broke this filly for Jack and Karin Hudgins (509-628-8306) last summer and fall. Like most of Papa Durr's babies it was a piece of cake. She's naturally responsive and seems to want to learn to rein easily. She's in a medium length snaffle, has a great stop, and is about to neck rein. She has no urge to buck... I got on her bareback after she had been put out for the winter a couple of months and she started right where we left off. She's 4 as of May 07 and she's big enough to go all day. She'll be 15-2 when she's done. Mom and Dad are both about that size. You can see she's well put together... perfectly proportioned. She's got great feet, straight legs, and the Papa Durr mind... beautiful head, kind eye, strong bone, and AQHA hip. This filly has lots of potential.

If your interested, give Jack and Karin a call. I'd be glad to tell you more about her training.

Hopi Jo

By Papa Durr and April Jo Bar # 2418190

Hopi is Ivy's full sister and belongs to Jack and Karen. Great buckskin color, gentle disposition, lots of bone and a real looker. We started her under saddle in September 07. After a dozen rides she lopes figure 8's in the correct lead... Backs, side passes. She's an amazing learner in a very athletic package. Gentle as a house cat. She will mature well over 15 hands.

Sugar Bear

5/2004 Bay Gelding By Papa Durr and Sugarfoot ($7000)

This colt was raised in Montana; Sugar Bar's younger brother. He only has one good eye, he walks with a limp, and he bucks like he's been to the NFR. Don't even ask.
